New apartments are often advertised by agents on the basis of how many “Green Stars” they have achieved through construction standards.

Why would we not expect to see similar standards and star rating systems for acoustic / sound insulation achieved through construction standards?

The AAAC guidelines relate only to measuring noise in existing apartment buildings. They don’t provide guidance to buyers or developers / builders as to how to achieve a higher level of acoustic insultation between floors and walls in an apartment building, through better engineering, design, materials, and construction practices.

I would pay a premium to buy an apartment in a building that I knew had been built to a higher set of acoustic insulation standards.

Is this a “blind spot” in the market?
