I am trying to gauge how widely Stratabox is used – if you are using it could you reply and indicate how many apartments are in your strata. We are using it in our building and find it to be useful, but I’m wondering whether it has a future!

I know I am biased as they are loyal sponsors, but Stratabox doesn’t just have a future, it IS the future.

The proposals for review of strata laws tabled in the NSW parliament yesterday include extensive provisions for the digitising of  strata records and owners’ access to them.  As a result, platforms like Stratabox can only grow and become more embedded in the strata landscape.

But don’t take the number or responses to this post as an indication of the size and reach of Stratabox.  When you drill down through the number of users who are also avid readers of this website, to the people who can be bothered to respond, the figures may be marginal.

Contact Stratabox and ask them about your concerns.

Thanks – I really like Stratabox but I don’t want to invest too heavily (time and energy in using it and convincing our strata manager to get on board) if its going to fade away. It still seems to be in free beta mode, which is great as far as costs go, but that is probably not sustainable. I am hoping that development will continue, for example the involvement of contractors using “channels” which currently does not work as advertised.

I’ve had no replies to about half a dozen emails to Stratabox over last few months, hence my concern about future viability of the product.

They’re still paying their bills but I think they, like everyone else, have been affected by Covid. As far as getting a free service, I wouldn’t be looking  a gift horse in the mouth just yet.  The cost in running something like Stratabox is at the front end, setting up the platform.  Get that right and the running costs are minimal.

              Hi OldHat and Jimmy,

rest assured Stratabox is alive and well!

There are now over 300 schemes signed up. Activity on the platform is steadily increasing.

We are about to exit beta but wanted to ensure everything was running smoothly and we had the right set of features.

A few things I would like to mention:

              – There are many different uses for Stratabox depending on each scheme’s specific needs.

              – Stratabox is not a silver bullet. Committees need to put in place some procedures around its use to make it effective. And it may not be suitable for all schemes.

              – There is an investment, mostly time, in setting it up. Once it is up and running the day to day is minimal and the time saved by being able to communicate and share documents is great. It is also an insurance policy of sorts as documents can be stored under direct ownership of the OC.

Sorry I may have missed some emails lately as things have been a little crazy. I’ll do my best to get back to you with answers.

              Cheers, Paul
