    Hi
Please can someone help.., we are renting a property, its two month now before lease expires, we would like to continue leasing for another year…
I get a telephone call from a property evaluation company (who is not the managing agent) and asks to arrange a day and time to enter our property for evaluation purpose.
I dont have a problem with this at all but shouldn’t the managing agent contact me to arrange this?? My contract say the managing agent should contact me in the event of selling the property, but this is just for evaluation this doesnt apply?, but I still think the normal protocol would be for the owner to contact the managing agent and arrange a property visit for a 3rd party for evaluation purpose, unless… the owner doesnt want the managing agent to know about this evaluation.. Confused
Since we would like to stay renting for a further year (crossedfingers) and I dont want to ruffle any feathers so at this point not contacted the managing agent.

Would like to hear peoples thoughts on this.

    Thanks
    RD

Roger – it could well be a valuation that the owner/landlord has arranged to assist in the completion of the asset depreciation schedule of their upcoming taxation return or for refinancing, and therefore nothing of concern to you in terms of the unit possibly being listed for sale, but irrespective of the purpose, you would be entirely justified in advising your Managing (rental) Agent – if only to confirm the bonafides of the caller who wants access to your landlord’s property.

That wouldn’t ruffle any feathers, as after all, you’re only acting in the best interests of your owner / landlord Wink
