NSW. Just asking for a friend who was told if they wanted an EGM for a reno it would cost them $6,000 for the EGM. Is this excessive? It sounds like it to me! Could folks let me know what you have been charged for EGMs lately.

Seems excessive to me. I could imagine several hundreds for venue hire and several more hundreds for the managing agent’s time and materials to produce and distribute meeting papers and several more hundreds at some hourly rate for the manager to attend a meeting out of hours, probably undertaking secretarial functions such as minute taking. Put all that together it might be over a thousand dollars, but not $6000.

That price sounds like a blocking action from a manager wedded to to committee and trying to discourage owners from going down the EGM route, and making everybody pay them dearly if they insist. Like any quote, I’d want to know exactly why it costs that and exactly what’s included and costed. Then compare it with parts you can do yourself and what a comparable quote comes in at. Surely for $6000 they are having a lend.
