Our Chairman advises that after significant testing the lowest quote is around $30K (for 32 windows). Apparently because the windows are steel/casement the glass breaks when any drilling into the metal occurs. Some type of cheap bars i.e. compliant but below normal security standards would seem to be the answer but may not be commercially available. There seems to be more than a few of these windows around; we’d be interested in others experience (and suggest not waiting until late 2017 to start getting quotes).

dech – At ≈$900 / window I think your Owners Corporation is potentially being got-at, because I can’t conceive of a situation where any competent tradesperson couldn’t drill a metal framed casement window without breaking the glass, but in any case it’s possible to restrict both chain-winder and bar type openers.
Try contacting Doric and Assa-Abloy (inc. Lockwood, Whitco, Yale etc) for some advice on suitable products and recommended installers in your area.
