Hi everyone,
I’m on the strata committee of a new building. What are the best practice solutions for managing contractor access in medium to large buildings? We have 60-70 units.
Currently, some committee members have master key sets for emergencies. And we have given regular contractors their own master keys (cleaners + monthly fire inspectors)
Some people want to hire a building manager to handle any non-regular contractors.
Surely there are solutions out there that don’t require a whole building manager? What do other buildings do? eg do you have secure lockboxes outside the building somewhere? With digital codes that change monthly or something? Our neighbouring building had their lockbox broken into so we are nervous about this, but theirs was very basic. Can a strata manager hold keys for us, and make contractors go through the strata to pick up the keys?
Really hoping there are alternative available and keen to hear from everyone else’s experience.
Thank you!
