The following is a press release from City of Sydney:

With City of Sydney residents now five times more likely to be living in an apartment than the national average, a series of free workshops will provide helpful tips on how to make the most of the high-rise lifestyle.

The Strata Skills 101 workshops, organised by the City of Sydney, cover a range of issues that strata residents can encounter – from buying off the plan, to living with pets and strata governance.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said 75 per cent of city residents now live in high-density developments, so it’s important renters and owners know the different rules and approaches that apply to apartment life.

“More and more people are choosing to live in the City of Sydney. Well designed, sustainable high-density living is increasing to house our growing population,” the Lord Mayor said.

“These hands-on Strata Skills workshops provide practical advice and an opportunity to learn valuable skills for successful apartment living.”

While many renters and buyers consider the bricks and mortar questions of apartment living, such as location, size and price, they often overlook the elements that will make them feel part of their new community.

The Strata Skills 101 workshops cover the issues would-be strata residents should consider to save them time, money and stress. The free workshops focus on ways to improve communication, build community and resolve common conflicts quickly.

The City has run the Strata Skills 101 workshops since 2012 and they have proven very popular with residents. They involve group work and provide an opportunity to meet other apartment dwellers in the city.

The workshops run on Tuesday nights at 307 Pitt Street, Sydney. Upcoming topics include:
