Timber Floorboards just laid by apartment above us….

We received no notification that this was taking effect.  The Strata Manager and Executive Committee were made aware but did not notify us.  The noise of laying the boards began at 9am this morning.  It is now 6.30pm and the boards are still being laid.  The noise all day has been horrendous.  I have my elderly parents from the Gold Coast staying with me (both 82) who have gone through the loss of their son (my brother) from bowel cancer in February and my Dad has 4th stage cancer of the bowel as well.  My Mum suffered a stroke the night before my brother passed away.  They are here to celebrate my birthday tomorrow and have a break from chemo treatment and the tiredness they are feeling caused by the emotional upset of this.  I fail to understand – even though the owner has stated she has put down the top acoustic covering under the boards – that this will work as the noise being made above our head is atrocious at best and inconsiderate at worst.  I dont understand the unfairness of people to do this to others.  I think a by-law needs to be bought in across the board that ensures no one has any covering other than carpet.  We intend fighting this through to CTTT if necessary.  So much for the personal enjoyment of our space.
