Thank u all for your advices, really appreciate them.
Best part is, the initial AGM which happened and where i gotten approval for the renovation and a/c installation is now void. Apparently the chairperson who was not around claimed she did not give the strata manager her proxy. The rest of us who turned up are so pissed.
Problem is, now that my a/c is already installed and minuted in the initial minutes which have been sent out, will they disapprove and request me to remove it?
The fun never stops.
Hi Jimmy,
Do u think buying gift cards with a note to each affected tenant (including the weird guy, though im unhappy he is first to impose his opinions and the manner he handled the situation) placed in their mailboxes helps?
As for the weird guy, if he already has a personal agenda to the whole building, it seems nothing will ever appease him unless he is chairman or something?
i remembered one of the owner(moving back soon) at the AGM who told me her uncle once gave the weird guy very stern warning and he backed off from harrassing her with calls.
Do u think i should rent out or just move in? Stress is affecting me.
Thanks.
Also, as im the only minority race in the building, not sure if this fuels any dispute. As far as i know, i’ve informed strata and pasted notices on my door and the main notice board to inform tenants of the renovation. Not sure if i’ve missed out anything as im fairly new to the country and this is my first home.
🙁
Hi Jimmy,
He is an owner. Understood from another resident/committee member he inherited the unit from his mom who passed on and he used to be in public housing. I am not sure what his personal agenda is, maybe for ego or wanting to control the place (he was not invited to be on the committee anymore), and now that the annual minutes have been released and i am on the committee(because there were only 4 of us who turned up plus 1 proxy, the 3 of us took it upon ourselves and became committee to decide on matters so matters would not be held up), perhaps he is unhappy as when i first viewed the apartment, he got my signature in a petition to vote the strata manager/corporate out. I naively went along thinking there was really an issue with the strata as when i emailed them about renovations, they were nonchalant and not very helpful.
Hence, i had to attend the AGM, which happened to be a week after i collected my keys, which was also fortunate that i had turned up as i have not moved in to my new place and was not aware ofhis false notices.
Not being paranoid, but ever since i’ve met him, been having this sick in the stomach feeling about going to my new place. Having thoughts of renting it out but now that im skin deep in the place having renovated it, i’m lost.
Hi Cosmo,
As maybe slightly half of the tenants are renters, and he’s always snooping around, i dunno how many of them buy into his words. But i heard he does not get along with a tenant or two.
I am not hopeful of the Strata company doing anything, but what help does going to NCAT do?
Thanks all for your advices.
Bah.
