Whichever way one goes, I suspect it is a long and draining process, speaking as a new comer to strata conflict issues. Am I right? Should you maybe elaborate on the ’emotional cost’ of undertaking on of these courses of action, please?

Ahh… mattb, you make it all sound so simple. I wish it were. See Minky72 and you’ll see what life’s like with, what is almost certainly, a dysfunctional Executive Committee.

Jimmy, the Executive Committee just put their first initial and surname on all communications like minutes but everything else goes through the Strata Manager. It takes some effort to find out more about who they are. ‘Privacy’, you know. Vey ‘discreet’ , they are, when it comes to themselves.

If I suspect it’s just ONE of them, with a grudge to bear acting unilaterally, is there anything I might do? Are they bond to explain how the decision was made to ‘name and shame’ or who suggested or voted for and against or anything? Might I ask to address them in a meeting?

Minky72′ thanks for contributing, I feel for you too.

I am going to get myself one of those generic Meter Room keys and permission from the faceless ones to enter the room after I learn how to reset Foxtel and Bigpond Cable. You’d think anyone else, such as an electrician, would need to have permission to be in there doing stuff anyway, eh? You’d also have to think that pushing the Foxtel / Bigpond reset button couldn’t be too hard and save bucks. Would sure beat having no Pay TV and web all weekend. I hope the faceless ones are receptive to my ideas. Have another post to write about that. Say tuned.

Oh come on guys, please. We had no Foxtel or internet for 72 hours. It probably cost unnecessary money paid to Foxtel. Strata Managers like to protect their turf and income by keeping in control. And Foxtel doesn’t mind the easy, extra money made every time they have to come out to simply press a button.

There has to be a better solution to a button tied into a power grid or whatever is happening. This is age of technology isn’t i?

Surely you must agree someone on the Executive Committee could be expected to be on top of basics like this, available within reason and keen to keep people happy.

First poster here. I don’t live there just know the building well. Of the 15 apartments only about half ever turn up to AGMs and as I said it has been very well run for years. So no drama, ever. Four clever people were a constant.

While I did say harbour-side, it is actually 150m or so from the water, across a park and a road. It did have some very minor spots of dark mould which were gotten rid of periodically for no great cost.

To be blunt, what happened was three rather pretentious, downsizing empty-nesters got them selves on to the Executive Committee and made life hell for he other, long-standing members and beat them into submission. As I said, it got nasty.

Nothing illegal and no council rules to speak of played a part. The place simply should not have been painted.
