I recently purchased an apartment and really like everything about …. except the fact that the apartment directly above mine has hard flooring and I can hear every move they make. It doesn’t bother me too much in the living areas but I have not been able to sleep when they are walking around in their bedroom above mine as it is very loud and not a noise that you block out. I know that the apartments originally had carpet everywhere except for the wet areas and that the floors were probably changed about 5 or 6 years ago. I know that if the owner at least put carpet with a good underlay in the bedrooms it would make the world of difference. 

Our By- laws only have a general statement about noise however it does affect my enjoyment of the apartment as I cannot sleep properly which is having an impact on me. 

I don’t want to cause any large issues however I would like to see the owner put in carpets in the bedrooms. I would be happy to talk to the owner upstairs to discuss options. (the place is rented out so the owner doesn’t live there.) 

I was wondering if people had any example letters of what they sent to Body Corporate whether they were successful or not.
