    Hello

In April 16 work commenced on significant Concrete Cancer Remediation on a block of 6 Units without informing Council or obtaining a Complying Development Consent.

As a member of the Committee I had insisted the Strata Manager and the Committee to do the remediation according to law. I paid for and brought an expert to two Committee  meetings to explain this. I was ignored.

Six Units were to be remediated plus the roof of the common parking area.

My Unit directly above the parking area was visibly most affected.

On 26 June 2016 Council stopped the work. My Unit was left without a third of its concrete floor  and the bathroom had been stripped back to the brickwork and had significant holes in the walls. In September a CDA was approved to complete the work. It is still incomplete but nearing completion. All 5 other Units were able to maintain tenants during the work and all other Units were completed before Council called a halt.I have had no rent since the tenant moved out in February 2016 because she know work was about to start.

Question: Can I claim compensation for rent forgone from the time Council stopped the work until the Unit is habitable?

Thanks for your help. It has been and is still a total nightmare and very distressing.
