Readers are contacting us all the time, asking what they can do about strata conflicts and, specifically, how they can get in touch with the NSW Strata Taskforce.
A couple of weeks ago, in our Forum, we ran a Fair Trading email address that was supposed to give you direct contact with their department devoted to gathering evidence against bad strata actors with a view to taking action against them.
However, the link we passed on from a reader turns out to be the one that people within the organisation use to communicate with each other.
Contrary to what we suggested at the time, it will not get your issue attended to any sooner. In fact it might slow the process down as you are re-directed through the proper channels and have to start again.
There is a website for raising complaints and asking questions about strata issues and our contact in Fair Trading says using it will save you time, not least because it will avoid you having to lodge twice.
They assure us that your complaints will be triaged – sorted into the relevant destination and level of urgency— and, if appropriate, passed on to the Taskforce.
Also, lodging on the website automatically gives you a reference number that can be used for tracking the progress of your complaint.
So, to seek assistance with a strata matter, or raise a complaint about a strata professional, customers should do so via the NSW Fair Trading website.
This is the best and only effective way to raise strata issues through Fair Trading. But please let us know if it doesn’t work for you.
