Hi all,

I’m upstairs in a Block of 4. I’m seeking exclusive use of the Roof Space above my Unit, to construct a ‘Attic Room’. I’ve been told that I would need to compensate the O.C in order to gain approval.This information was conveyed by an Ground Floor Unit owner, who just happens to have constructed a hardwood bench (which is bolted to the wall) and a paved area, adjacent to his back door, which serves as a home for his BBQ.The owner maintains the bench and BBQ paved area were contructed to be used by everybody (common property) thus not requiring him to seek ‘exclusive use’, however there is no mention of this in any Minutes that were taken at the time of construction.

How should I approach this obvious double standard ?

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum.
