A man of means, new to our humble block of 34 units, has recently got himself on to our Executive Committee. (Yep, proxies played their part.) He had some existing renovation plans knocked back by the previous Executive Committee after advice from the Strata Manager who consulted professionals.

Now, we see his renovations are full steam ahead. He has apparently put in 15 downlights which needed holes cut in the ceiling, many new powerpoints and some sort of sophisticated data set-up.

We are worried the integrity of the ceiling with respect to fire safety; that the building’s electricity may be compromised; and our internet, which is as reliable as internet gets, has all-of-a-sudden been down more than it’s up.

What can we do, do you reckon? He has gone ahead without any reference to the Strata Manager we are told. Is there a ‘body’ of some sort who might be able to check these things out for us, in one go? We are especially concerned about fire safety.

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
