I recently received a letter from my strata mentioning I was in breach of Bylaw 17 schedule 1

“the owner occupier of a lot must not maintain within the lot anything visible from outside the lot that viewed from outside is not in keeping with the rest of the building”

I was not given any details regarding the breach just threatened with a $5500 fine.

I wrote back to the strata asking for more details as I didn’t know what I had done and received a second identical letter without any details.

I received a call from the real-estate and explained the situation and I was informed that the offensive item was a bottle of washing up liquid on my kitchen windowsill.

Is this a fair interpretation of the bylaw, should washing up liquid be banned from a kitchen if it can be seen from outside?

The neighbours might complain about a cockroach infestation if I don’t do the dishes!

    Thanks
