From the Forum: Tenant turns around vote and stops renovations

Stop-work.jpg

So you’ve been through the tortuous system for getting approval of your planned renovations, and you have all the votes you need.

But then the tenant of an adjoining flat says they will move out if the renos go ahead and your neighbouring owner caves in and says they want to rescind their vote.

That vote will make the difference between being allowed to do the renovation, and not.

Can the owner change their mind? And what can you do about it if they do?  That’s HERE

Elsewhere on the Forum:

  • The strata laws seem to have two description of how tenants can be elected to the strata committee.  Why are there two very different scenarios?  That’s HERE.
  • Now the ACT has its own chapter of the Owners Corporation Network.  That’s HERE.
  • What can you do when the majority on a strata committee turn a blind eye to the chair or their spouse parking illegally on common property?  That’s HERE.
  • Is there any obligation on strata committees to enforce their building’s by-laws .. you will be surprised by the answer.  That’s HERE.
  • The law says two owners of the same property can’t both be on the committee, but they own two lots between them.  What’s the story?  That’s HERE.

There will be a lot more questions and answers on the Flat Chat forum.
