Has anyone noticed an increase in complaints from neighbours for breaches of these by-laws by other occupants when the “noise” complained of is just general living with or without kids, and music and talking both of which are not loud?  I think its due to an increased number of downsizers who expect the same level of noise they enjoyed living in their previous mansions, which was probably none.

Could also be due to declining building standards. Gone are the days of the double brick apartment.

Slipping on my grumpy nanna stilettos… I think we’ve evolved into noisier people who live more indoors. Subwoofers, mobile phones, tellys/screens in rooms other than the lounge, many people with undiagnosed hearing loss due to years of headphone/earbud use turning up the volume, etc. etc. etc.

As for levels of noise in surburbia – nothing beats that weekend race to the lawnmover. 😉

Consideration for your neighbours wherever you live is the thing.
