At our upcoming AGM we are being asked to sign a new Strata Management Agency Agreement.  SM says that we must do this to meet the requirements of the new NSW legislation.  The new agreement sets a minimum term of 3 years.

I looked at the Fair Trading website – it doesn’t mention the need for a new agreement.  It does talk about “Fairer Terms of Appointment”, but the wording here made my eyes glaze.

Is this legitimate, or is our SM being opportunistic?

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
