QUESTION: I have an air conditioner installed in my investment property. The remote control has gone missing since the property manager took the new tenant through the apartment prior to the tenant moving in.
Both claim to have sighted it during that inspection but the tenant claims that it wasn’t there when she moved in. The property manager claims that it was where he found it when they finished the inspection.
The tenant now wants a replacement remote control and the property manager says that I should pay for the replacement. What can I do about this? – Redstaranfield, via Forum.
ANSWER:You could investigate the mystery of the missing remote. Was there another inspection? Or were tradesmen working in the apartment? And what about the removalists?
But one of our Forum StrataGurus has come up with a simple solution: “Frankly, it’s not worth the discussion when you can buy one on the internet for less than $20 locally, or less than $10 (incl. postage) from overseas,” says Whale.
The remote has now been ordered but it’s worth remembering, often in strata you need to forget who’s right and wrong; just do what needs to be done and get on with life.
