Probably more unauthorised bathroom renovations in every building than original bathrooms. The excuse is usually that it was “like that” when the property was bought so must be original. I doubt there has ever been any successful tribunal outcome in pursuing.

Remember this is in a bathroom and the access point no longer exists as it was permanently closed by the committee. That is one of my gripes as if there is a problem with the plumbing there can be no fix quick or otherwise. A brick wall is a brick wall so they can just go in from the common property hallway or stairs instead if they need to fix something.
Separate issue related to my late coming to the tech age. How do I edit a post I have made? For example if I discover after its approval there is an error.
Also how do I quote another post?. I see others do it but haven’t worked it out and coukdnt find instructions.
Forgive me if its somewhere obvious Im still pretty much analogue
I occasionally get that issue and even when I follow the instructions it doesn’t take me to the link. Next time it happens I’ll post the link here.
Looks like the SM calculated the interest on 12 months instead of the actual number of days interest was acrued.
Bravo for going all the way. Dealing with such bureaucracy and getting them to admit mistakess soul destroying. You might wish to make a complaint to the NSW Ombusdman but will probably face a similar cycle as NCAT & FT will not budge from their stories and the ombudsman will automatically believe whatever their excuses. Its frightening the stories of incompetency and disinterest I hear regarding NCAT.
If the building has room for visitor car spaces then I assume each unit also has a least one car space . What happened to yours?
<p style=”text-align: left;”>I don’t see how a resident can be trespassing on common property. How many cats are there now?</p>
The other night I found a stray dog on the Hume Hwy. I picked it up and took it to an animal shelter. Easy.If you go with a Speed bump make sure it’s firmly and tightly fixed to the ground. Those metal and plastic speedbumps can make an almighty clanging or thumping noise when there is any movement.

However asking for a signature before providing the T&Cs is highly questionable. Always read the fine print hefore signing.
As to whether they have “no knowledge of any action in the future” another reason to read the fine print. That is an incredibly vast statement basically capturing every comment even those made at the local pub. How many people here would sign such a document eyes closed?
Perhaps the cats need to be fed as there are no more Ibis. Once the cats are gone someone will need to feed the rats. Once the rats are gone you will have a splendid batch of cockroaches….
Sometimes you just need to take responsibility yourself if no one else will. Call those organisations today if you won’t or can’t catch the stray cats yourself to bring them yourself. Otherwise and unfortunately you may well have a dozen kittens to deal with also by the next GM. In 2 years you will have 50 feral cats irrespective of said resident feeding them or not.
A radical idea is to get the current ones neutered and then adopted by residents of the building. After all it’s not the cats fault.
On reading this thread “independently” there seems to be 2 independant issues. One is the lift and the other the SC. A new lift breaking down is a warranty issue not an SC one. The SC are not mechanics.
There is mention of the new lift being “signed off” which seems to be when it was decided to install a new lift. That doesn’t happen overnight so when did the work to install the new lift actually begin? If the lift company wasn’t immediiately available that is not the fault of the SC.
For example if the NCAT order to install the lift was issued on 1 Jan this year (quote “earlier this year”) then 20 weeks installation brings is to about 1 June. Expecting the SC to have the work completed earlier is not possible and outside of their role.it It is also unrealistic for them to know if “cheap” components would be used for the new lift so certainly unfair to blame them if this did occur.
NCAT will only accept hard facts and won’t blame the SC for installation issues by a 3rd party. It doesnt surprise me they won’t do more in the short term.
The issue with the planter boxes is more to do with the management of water. The plants will require watering, the water will go to the bottom and seep our the bottom or sides causing a permanent damp patch underneath. No issue if its dirt but if its concrete well it will start deteriorating.
It just needs to be managed.
What do the remaining residents say? The SC represents all owners not just one. Depending on cost it may require a vote by the OC unless the SC are allowed a certain amount of expenditure without having to put it to the OC for a vote.
A practical matter are the type of planter boxes and what they are being attached to. It may look good but where will the water go? Constant moisture between the planter and the whatever it will be attached to will cause problems down the track. It just needs proper consideration that’s all.
Apoarently neither our building, street or suburb has NBN or is NBN ready according to NBN and a few ISPs.
This is despite me and a few others in the building getiing the NBN connected last year.
I enjoy asking my ISP how that is possible when they call to put me on the NBN waitlist.
