One of the more fascinating facts to emerge from Building Commissioner David Chandler’s discussions about the two recent surveys revealing the number and extent of defects in new buildings was the fact that waterproofing was far and away the most common issue.
There are all sorts of theories as to why this may be a perennial problem in strata – not least that the installation is usually hidden by tiles or pavers and it can take years to manifest itself.
So it’s not surprising that the Owners Corporation Network (OCN) had a lot of questions about waterproofing at their recent renovations seminar, including who’s responsible for it and covering technical issues such as disturbing existing waterproofing, waterproofing over existing surfaces and monitoring installation.
With that in mind, at a webinar planned for November 17, OCN is inviting expert speakers to explain the key information about waterproofing during renovations as well as diagnosis and rectification of waterproofing issues.
The expert speakers will include John Riad, Team Leader, Defects and Structural Engineering, Landlay and Daniel Caruana, CEO, of the Danrae Group.
You can register for the free webinar on Wednesday November 17, from 1 to 2pm, HERE
This event is supported by City of Sydney and there will be ample time for your questions.
