A new mixed-use development that will provide almost 1000 new homes near the new Metro line in Sydney’s north-west has been approved by the NSW Government.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Rob Stokes said the $332 million development would include 17 new buildings, ranging from two to eight-storeys, and be a mix of residential, retail and commercial space.

“Increasing our housing supply is one of the key ways for us to provide more opportunities for first home buyers to get into the market,” Mr Stokes said.

“Boosting supply is about facilitating the right development in the right place at the right time and by providing homes near the new Metro, we are fulfilling this need.

“This development includes 987 new homes, including 50 apartments dedicated to affordable housing.”

The 987 new homes in Tallawong brings to a total of 27,567 potential new homes announced by the NSW Government in the last month; Ingleside (980), Macquarie Park (7650), Blackwattle Bay (1550), Glenfield (7000), Leppington (2400) and Lowes Creek, Maryland (7000) with more to be revealed in coming months.

Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly said the plans also feature a new 3,500 square metre park and landscaped green space for the local community.

“The new community on the doorstep of Tallawong Station will be the perfect home base for commuters,” Mr Conolly said.

“This development creates new lifestyle opportunities for the north-west, providing homes as part of a new local retail and commercial centre which is supported by infrastructure, open space, and public transport.”
