My older building on the riverside in Brisbane has a slow, self-righteous committee. Motions from myself for a few bigger works projects were AGM approved and started, but in about 5 instances over the last few years the bigger projects that were detailed and costed for completion have not been properly finished due to seemingly lack of on-going interest from the Chairman (who the others seem afraid of). What might be the way to get these things re-addressed, and what tone would be the way to approach that with?

Some Motions were written as open for committee to select best approach, some were specific and detailed, one they never got correct permission for but it was approved and they went on to horrible effect, one was dated to be done by 4months and its now about 10 months and works not completed, and one is a long-expired grounds maintenance contract now required to go to open market for re-tendering, one was a boat-ramp fix to restore safety (done) and functionality (not done, so cant launch boat in low tide). The committee think these are all done and dusted and had drinks along the way to celebrate each of their great successes.

I think the simplest way would be to submit a motion to the next BC committee meeting asking what has happened to each project, why it has stalled, what plans there might be to complete it and what the completion timetable is.

Failing that, an explanation of why it has been abandoned despite being approved by the majority of owners.

In other words, put the cat among the pigeons and see where the feathers fall.

Thanks Jimmy. Yes, I think you are correct. Alternately, I think I recently saw Chris comment somewhere else recently to revisit it with them in a ‘line of line upon line, item by item’ approach and pushing each to completion slowly but surely so as not to overwhelm me, as much as them, to get things done as required.

            That makes perfect sense too.
