We seem to have been talking about strata law changes for the last 100 years and certainly we are on the brink of the biggest shake-up of strata law in NSW since last century – 1973, to be precise.

OCN, the main independent lobby group for strata owners and EC members in NSW and across Australia, is promoting a series of seminars that set out to anticipate the changes and explain how they will affect us, when they come in, probably in July this year.

The next event, next month, is a must for anyone concerned about how the new laws – and especially the compulsory by-laws review for all strata schemes – will affect us.

“We will look at practical steps in helping owners understand the changes to come,” says an OCN Press release. “The focus will be on by-law reforms and the strata managing agent reforms. We will be discussing how commissions impact insurance. and the dos and don’ts of writing successful by-laws that are relevant to your community.”

Among the guest speakers are leading strata lawyer Suzie Broome from this website’s sponsors Sachs Gerace Broome. Suzie takes a no-nonsense approach to strata law so she is always worth listening to. There will also be representatives from Latitude insurance.
