Round about Tuesday lunchtime (April 19), the world and his brother discovered the “wee” story online in the Herald and we had one of our biggest surges of logins ever. Our system (an old Commodore 64 linked to two tin cans attached to a piece of string), couldn’t cope and we were in “crash” mode for a few hours.
But we’re back, with fresh blu-tac, a new bit of string and larger tin cans. This is guaranteed to last until the next time.
Apologies to anyone who wanted in but could get online with us, and thank you for your patience. By the way, despite being offline for three hours, we had almost 2000 unique visitors and more than 4000 page loads on Tuesday. No wonder the system crashed.
