QUESTION: I can’t believe the people who live around me. They are always complaining that my music is on too late (after 10 at night!), the TV’s too loud or my parties are too noisy. They even called the police at 2 am one Sunday.
Now, it’s getting really nasty. Last week I left my garbage outside my front door because it was stinking up the house. When I went to take it to the bins just a couple of hours later, some ratbag had tipped it all over my doorstep.
What is wrong with these people? Apartment living means a bit of give and take, right? How can I get them to leave me alone when they just don’t get it? – Culchick, Manly.
ANSWER: Hmmm … I think it might be you who doesn’t get it. Apartment blocks aren’t backpacker hostels or hotels and your neighbours are entitled, by law, to peace and quiet.
I would start looking for a new place where everyone lives like just you. Maybe a few nights kept awake by some other selfish resident will change your views.
