Our block of 20 units is starting to show it’s age, and as such a few people are embarking on a number of “minor” renovations such a kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and air conditioners.

In my last 4 years as an SC member, I have not seen any approval requests for these renovations, and with the new laws I do not fully understand whether approval is needed, and what the impact is if we allow all renovations without reviewing.

Personally I do not want precents set without permission that can then cause a snowball effect later, but the rest of the SC are not vocal in looking to enforce SSMA 2015 – Section 110 which I understand requires OC approval for minor renovations.

Can anyone shed some light on what the impact might be if we continue to turn a blind eye to these renovations?

Should I be encouraging the other SC members to inform and enforce this approval process?

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
