Hi I’ m new to the forum and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with Section 71 (2a) that refers to interests. Does the strata manager have to declare any other interests other than pecuniary interests? We are in a small strata block of 3. One of the owners who was the original developer, wanted to self manage the block. This turned out to be a disaster and his wife took the file to an local strata manager. My husband who is the voted Chairperson/Treasurer/Secretary (we are only small) agreed because he was relieved that there would be someone independent to assist us. Unfortunately, this has not occurred. We have since found out after attending the  EGM that all is not right.

This strata manager was not elected at an AGM, it was just agreed between the 2 owners that it would be ok. This agent is well known to the owners that approached her. This agency was the selling agent for their property within the strata in 2007. Property didn’t sell. But this agent has sold other real estate for them in the area. Is this an interest that should have been disclosed by the Strata Manager?

Reply To: Interests must be disclosed by potential strata managing agents
PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
