Our OC manager doesn’t seem the least bit interested in helping the committee with an issue, and in the past has actually aided an owner who had been asked to repair something, prepare a list of reasons why he shouldn’t.

Now we are being threatened with being taken to VCAT unless we withdraw a notice (to another owner), but he is offering the committee no advice as to how we should proceed. Isn’t that his job? Isn’t he supposed to be supporting the OC not working against it?

He also treats our chairperson with utter disdain, saying (when I’ve been on the phone in the same room as the chairperson) “Yes Bill.  What do you want NOW???” He soon changed his attitude when I said hello!

How do we proceed with this manager?

The first thing is for you to obtain a copy of the strata management agreement signed by the OC and the strata managing agent so you can understand what the agent’s listed (agreed) functions are.

Yup.  That’s where you’ll find the grounds for sacking them – e.g. not doing what they have agreed to do  – which is all you really want to do.
