There have been a couple of posts in the past week about strata managers making payments without prior authority or even refusing to supply tax invoices for the work or services for which they have paid.
One can only assume that this increased interest in financial oversight has occurred because to the NSW North Coast strata manager who allegedly managed to filch $2million from nearly 70 strata schemes’ funds before the holes in their finances were discovered.
Now, some strata managers who are entirely trustworthy will go ahead and make payments without prior approval because they just want to keep things moving efficiently.
They may even point to a line in their contract that allows them to do exactly that. Others may say that every time they have to ask for permission and then receive the answer, that’s another two Schedule B charges that the strata scheme has to pay. So where’s the saving?
Obviously, there’s a balance to be struck and you can put in your 10 cents worth HERE.
Meanwhile, there’s a discussion about what to do when your committee removes trees without permission from either the owners’ corp or the council. That’s HERE.
