As part of our continuing efforts to make the Forum more accessible, we are now making it a lot easier for anyone to both post to the forum and respond to published posts.

To start a new discussion, click on the blue “Click here to ask any question” panel on the right, scroll down the new page that opens up and choose a sub-forum that’s most closely related to your issue.

The first time you do it you will have to provide an email address (which won’t be visible on the Forum) and a nickname (which will so please don’t use your real name). If you don’t want to have to keep doing that, then register and login and it will be done for you.

Having found the general area that interests you, click on the heading for that forum then click on Create New Topic.

Write a short headline that gets to the nub of your problem then write your post.  Don’t worry if it doesn’t appear immediately.  All posts are moderated by me before they appear on the website and I am a real person who occasionally sleeps, does other work or watches football – I am not an AI interface.

Don’t name companies, individuals, strata schemes or even yourself. Identifying yourself also identifies anyone you are complaining about and that could lead to legal problems.  Anonymity is our shield from vexatious litigation.

If you want to reply, just click on the “reply” button at the top of the post in the actual Flat Chat forum.

Subscribing to a topic means you will be alerted every time someone responds to the post and replies. However, you must be registered with an active email address for that option to be offered. If you are, make sure the automatic replies alert box is ticked .

Don’t worry if your post doesn’t appear immediately. All posts are moderated by me and I am not an AI bot. I am a human being who occasionally sleeps, does other work or watches football, but I will get to your question eventually.

If you have a strata emergency you should be contacting your strata manager, building manager or strata secretary. If you are about to walk into an AGM and need urgent advice, you have probably left it too late (but you can try).

It’s a really good idea to register for the newsletter as every week you will get a summary of the latest stories – including a roundup of Forum posts – plus an editorial message from me about whatever is interesting or bugging me that week. Registering is easy (click on the panel) and unsubscribing is even easier if you change your mind. You just click on a line at the bottom of the newsletter. Give it a go, you might like it.
