A new survey of housemates into what annoys us most about our “roomies” reveals that lazy grubs who don’t help with cleaning are most likely to attract frequent Post-it Notes Of Fury.
But even more home-sharers said flat-mates who had frequent overnight ‘guests’ should chip in more for bills.
When home share website EasyRoommate asked its members to choose their biggest ‘deal breakers’, 76% said lazy and messy flatmates were the major pain.
And when it came to their love lives, while most felt it was OK for a flatmate’s partner to stay the night once or twice a week, a huge 81 per cent said beyond that, more cash needed to be put in the communal biscuit tin.
Household bills concerned 66% of respondents, rules about house parties worried 58%, house guests troubled 57% and too-frequent sleepovers with partners irritated 49% of roomies.
The survey also found 56% of roommates shared the cleaning on an ad hoc basis, 18% had a roster system and 18.5% said one person did most of the cleaning alone. Not surprising then that 79% were happy with their arrangements.
