Lock up and Leave: It just has to be Japan

We usually have a bit of a debate about our pick of the week but the one that jumps out at us this time around is a small-group luxury tour of Japan.

As Sue mentions in the Podcast, Japan is one of the hottest of hot destinations of the moment.  Why, you might ask.

It would have a lot to do with the fact that everyone who goes there comes back raving about the place.

Sue went there with her Mum a few years ago and they both absolutely loved it.

I hiked the Nakasendo Trail there with my mate Kieran, just before Covid, and book-ended the trip with a couple of days in Tokyo. I would go back in a heartbeat and here’s why:

1. The culture is so rich and varied
2. The people are so polite and respectful (but the subcultures are strong).
3. The food is amazing.
4. The scenery and architecture are stunning.
5. Everywhere is clean and orderly.
6. This is the land of the bullet train, Hello Kitty, hot spring spas (onsen), summer skiing (for Aussies) and amazing pagodas
7. That’s not even half of it.
