A few weeks ago we ran a question from a serial rentals reject calling herself Furryball who couldn’t understand how she and her partner – both with good jobs and great references – kept being rejected for properties they went after.
Our suggestion that they treat it like a job application – dress smartly and supply supporting CVs etc – divided Flatchatters, some of whom thought it was ridiculous notion.
Then we got this:
“We have actually found a place now! When we went to our viewing we had a good long chat with the current renters and asked for some hints and tips for our covering letter; something the owners would want to hear.
“They suggested a whole load of stuff specific to their property and it worked. I got along really well with the agent as well, who I had a few chats with prior to the viewing – so we’re all good now. Thanks. – Furryball.
Now, we’re not saying “told you so” to everyone who mocked the idea of making an extra effort … well, actually, we are.
OK, it’s an isolated case and talking to the existing tenants wasn’t our idea but, hey, it’s a good one. The full saga can be read on the Flat Chat Forum HERE.
