Our Strata Committee wishes to hold their next meeting in a room within the building. It would appear to me to breach Government directives about not having more then one person, outside of a family, in any meeting.

I remain concerned of the expectation to attend in person given the COVID-19 situation. There is a reluctance to hold it online although our recent AGM was conducted over the phone.

      I would appreciate your thoughts.

If your owners can have an AGM over the phone, they can surely hold a committee meeting that way.

The should consider this – there is absolutely no legal obligation to hold a certain number of strata committee meetings during the year – not even one.  Therefore, by insisting in holding this strata meeting in person in a confined space, your office-bearers are unnecessarily putting committee members’ and other owners’ lives at risk.

They need to think about the implications of that before they proceed with this reckless and entirely needless breach of social-distancing restrictions.

I wouldn’t be attending, too risky.   If the members are computer literate (and of course  have computers) you could set up Zoom or Skype meetings.  Not too hard to do after you’ve fiddled around a bit and very effective.
