I’m on a strata committee and I am fairly knowledgeable about strata matters. Recently a friend referred someone who is on a strata committee in another building to me; who is new to all this. So I tried to give them some basic guidance, but I’d discovered that the information about strata that used to be on the Dept of Fair Trading website is now gone; apparently replaced by another site in the Dept of Housing ( https://www.nsw.gov.au/housing-and-construction/strata ), and that the new site is missing 95% of the information that used to be available.
Luckily, I had downloaded the useful (48 page!) brochure “Strata Living”, last updated in June 2018, which I could provide, but this is no longer available from the government. Instead, all there is, is a new Dept of Housing website which covers a bare handful of scattered topics, mostly with little detail.
Is there a way to pressure the government to restore the useful compendium of strata information that used to be on the Fair Trading website? I’m assuming this is some kind of turf war between two government departments? Anyone know anything about this?
