I am part of a Strata plan of 3 town houses in Darwin, NT. The other 2 townhouses share a wall, while mine is freestanding and completely independent of the other two.  We have no body corporate and manage the place ourselves. Water, electricity and gas are all metered separately and there is no common property at all.

There are ongoing issues with insurance — Eg: my place has a pool, but as it is not in a common area and is difficult to cover under strata insurance policies, and I also rent my place short term while I am away. Every year there are issues with the insurance and letting out my place short term is a new complication under our existing policy. For the sake of neighbourly relations I would like to split from the strata plan.

Is there a way to do this? If you are not able to answer this question do you know someone who can?

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
