We like cats here at Flat Chat. Cats are the prefect pets for strata. They don’t bark, they don’t have to be taken out for walks, they don’t scare people in the lifts and because they are in apartments, they are not out there killing native animals.
So we are 100 percent behind one Flatchatter who fosters rescued cats and kittens but finds herself living in an apartment block that has strict rules on pets.
What their by-law says is that you can’t have a pet without the written permission of the committee. And then they charge $100 for “processing” the request.
Our Flatchatter never has more than two cats at a time but has a steady turnover of fostered cats that are between rescue and a permanent home.
If she were to follow the by-laws slavishly, she thinks she’d be supposed to pay $100 every time she introduced a new moggie into her apartment.
What should she do? Hide the cats, pay the money or stop providing temporary homes for needy pussies?
