When the minutes for our 2020 AGM were sent out there were several errors, mainly to do with who was present and the correct name for a committee member. There was also a “0” missed from a motion dealing with a monetary amount, which changed it from 1,000,000 to 100,000.

When I advised the Chairman of these errors he said that we would need to have them amended at the 2021 AGM.

So I have presented a motion to have these amendments made and our SM advised that this isn’t necessary, that the amendments can be made now and presumably the corrected minutes will go out with the agenda for the 2021 AGM

Who is correct? Do the corrections need a motion at the upcoming AGM?

There will automatically be a motion at your next general meeting (probably your AGM) to approve the minutes of the last one.  That’s when you can check to make sure the amendments have been made, and propose amendments if they haven’t.

Meanwhile, if you think owners need to be made aware of the discrepancies, propose a motion for the next committee meeting that they be noted.
