I’d love your advice! The Special Rules of my OC state “A member must not…  Store or accumulate in public view or permit to be so stored or accumulated any materials goods or debris on any car parking areas comprising the Lot or part of the Lot.”

What then can I store in the car park Lot? I can obviously store a car, which is technically ‘goods’ according to CAV (I’m in Victoria). Can I add a storage box? What about something like a trailer?

      Thanks for your advice guys!

To me, the key phrase here is “…store or accumulate in public view…”.  If your stuff was hidden away in a “Box Thing”, would it be in public view.  It looks to me as if the by-law was written to stop people leaving assorted jumble in their car spaces (which is fair enough).

In our block, you are allowed to have a Box Thing in your car space but it must be of a design and colour approved by the committee.  So maybe that’s your approach – ask the committee what kind of container would be approved that would give people storage without offending the eye of the beholder.

And if they say NONE, start a little campaign in your block to have a storage module approved.  The lack of storage is the bane of apartment dwellers lives – you might fnd you have a lot of support at your next AGM.

I agree with Jimmy, given what I have seen in some buildings. If the strata wanted an outright ban on everything other than a car using the space it would have a by law stating that the car space can only be used to house a motor vehicle. Your best bet is to recommend to the committee a “box thing” as Jimmy mentioned and suggest it be standardised in shape or size.
