Comment: Compulsory training for strata committee members is a good idea, it’s a shame the proposals are delivered in such a wishy-washy way.

It’s a start, and anecdotally, a lot of strata committee members are enthusiastic about the training. Most strata committee members are very conscious of their responsibility for managing a multi-million dollar building, and are often stressed because of that. Getting some support, in the form of training, seems to be enthusiastically welcomed by most members. The training is going to evolve, and change each year, and the Dept of Fair Trading have hinted they will next have some training about the duty of the Owners Corporation to maintain buildings.

People cannot drive a car without training and a drivers licence, but are expected to manage a twenty or hundred million dollar building just using their instincts. Most people on strata committees are looking forward to getting some guidance and help to manage that responsibility.

Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
