I’m concerned that I’ve recently said no to approval of an American Bully. My reasons being that when I saw it, it scared me, it’s owner was clearly holding onto its leash tightly so it made me wonder about how dangerous it actually is.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for me to want to feel safe in the common areas and not feel anxious every time I leave my flat worrying that I might bump into it.

But I also don’t want to be unfair.

On the other hand, the dog does bark and is left on its own. It poops on the balcony and that poop isn’t cleaned up.

In light of recent court rulings owners  corporations cannot ban pets. But most pet by-laws say that a pet requires the approval of the OC.

If the pet causes smells from its droppings, attacks another resident then the OC has grounds to remove approval for the pet..

The difference is that with holding approval before the fact assumes something bad may happen ( it may not) but withdrawal of approval after the fact is then based on concrete events.

You need to refer to your  bylaws as to whether approval can be removed.
