I have a serious problem with a neighbor using CCTV cameras that are all around the property.
on outside wall, door and up on 2nd floor wall
my privacy is being invaded.
everything I do is recorded.
I open garage door to go out or return it is recorded.
I open boot of my car to unload items it’s recorded
what can I do?
not sure if he got permission to install these cameras

If in NSW, start by looking through the NSW Surveillance Devices Act – https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/view/html/inforce/current/act-2007-064

and then write to your strata plan’s secretary referring to the Act and asking whether the cameras were installed legally, noting that you never consented to all the setup.

The first issue is whether they have permission to instal cameras. A by lawpreventi g changes to common property would cover this.

Se only, if they have permission, they are only allowed to record common property. Common property is a public area, so as long as the camera does not record inside a lot its legal.

I would also be bringing up with the committee, the relevance of cameras.  If the lot owner claims its for their security, they should only record what’s relevant. ie their front doo, their garage, but not areas not associated with them.

That Act is designed to offer ways that law enforcement authorities can surveil suspects.  It is not about individuals or companies installing CCTV or security cameras.

I thought I’m only the person who is facing this issues but here you are. Trust me i don’t know how to deal with the issues. But neighbor have two cameras one is front of the house and second on the side, that is covering the whole area. whenever I go to the job, I’m being recorded, i come back i recorded.
