We have been asked to remove a gas bayonet in our courtyard (common property) that we installed by the previous owners for the purposes of a gas BBQ. Gas usage is paid for by the Strata for the purposes of cook tops only (surely a BBQ fits that definition). We don’t want to remove the bayonet – can we fight this?

It’s unusual for gas usage within Lots to be paid for by the Owners Corporation (O/C) but notwithstanding that, as the bayonet fitting was installed by previous owners and the O/C did nothing to correct that situation then or since then you, as a subsequent owner cannot be forced to remove it, although the O/C may itself do so at its expense (i.e. using the funds contributed by all owners, incl. you).

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum.
