How do owners get rid of a Strata Committee? As few owners turn up to our AGMs, and most votes are by proxy of owners who don’t live in our building, the few remaining owner/occupiers are outnumbered.
We have an SC who has breached strata law on a number of occasions, is antagonistic and lies to win their arguments.

In Queensland proxies cannot be used to vote on appointing or removing a Committee member or members. Only voters in person, by postal or by POA can remove or appoint. Use the General Power of Attorney Form which only needs an ordinary person witness, and you, alone, can stack the meeting by holding these POAs (as many as you want – no restriction). BUT, you only get one chance, because once the other side learns the strategy, they will use the Strata Manager to assist them to outnumber you. Speaking from experience, am I.
Just be aware that the regulations and processes for electing committees are very different in Queensland from NSW

Owners can be nominated (or self-nominate) for election to the committee in writing before an AGM and they don’t need to attend as long as the chair knows that the nominee approves of being nominated.
