At our last AGM the strata committee ( executive committee in old strata act) was give approval to make decisions on expenditure upto $10,000.  However our Strata Manager wants to hold a formal EC meeting by mailing to all unit owners and having the EC formally vote on even quite minor matters.

They say all owners should be informed before the EC , now [Strata] Committee makes a decision. Of course this costs the Body corporate for the Strata manager to organise the Formal Strata Committee meeting. This seems a waste of everyone’s time and body corporate money…if this is needed why have a Strata Committee? can anyone advise is this necessary?

Also the strata manager insisted on a similar formal meeting when the EC decided which strata insurance to take. Please any comments , was this neccessary. Thank you

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
