Interesting, although whist NSW Legislation doesn’t explicitly exclude voting at General Meetings by any means other than personally or by proxy in the form prescribed at a physical meeting, it doesn’t explicitly permit alternatives such as on-line voting either.

Nonetheless our Owners Corporation resolved several years ago to permit on-line voting at General and Executive Committee Meetings, but with the proviso that there was a quorum present at the physical meetings of the former.

In the interests of equality of advertising, THIS is the system that our Plan’s been using very successfully for an average 17 on-line votes per AGM, and at an average cost of $150 for each of those Meetings.

I am parochial though, so I’d love to peruse V2 of that Qld-developed system; can’t help wondering what the outcome would have been if that or something similar could have been used for the recent State Election (?).

I see a little more information is required as this has been my labour of love for three years. Qld was the first State chosen as the Legislation was easier from an “on – line” point of view.

Strata Vote is 100% Australian owned and developed for our Strata Industry – after three years of intensive research and with Legal support.   It is not a general voting program where “one size fits most”.     Strata Vote provides on-line voting in accordance with the current Qld legislation and is a full meeting management tool.   General Meetings, Voting Outside Committee Meetings (ECM Vote in writing) , Secret Ballot Votes etc. Attachments are accessible clearly within each motion.   Strata Vote is easy to use, yet clever and sophisticated.   Results are automatically calculated in accordance with the number of votes received, validity of the voter, type of motion (resolution type ordinary/special etc. quorum etc.)

It has been suggested by a prominent NSW Strata Manager that Strata Vote could be implemented in NSW – owners who cannot attend the meeting appoint their Manager as their proxy   Surprised yes – but wait !

The owner completes their “Voting paper” on line with Strata Vote but the Voting paper is labelled “Direction to Proxy”. Maybe it would work just fine?

“Whale” I would welcome the opportunity to have Strata Vote host your next meeting as a free trial and welcome your feedback.   Cheers Dee

PLEASE ... If your property is not in NSW, mention its location (state). Don't identify companies or individuals by name. Don't mention or promote your company or services. Keep acronyms and initials to a minimum. Please, don’t use “quote” unless there is a specific point to which you wish to refer, then highlight (define) that specific passage before you click on "quote". Otherwise just use reply. THANKS.
