Hi.  I have just bought an apartment which is on the first floor, the only things underneath the apartment are the car park and storage cages.  The body corporate is saying I need to use acoustic glue underlay when i get rid of the carpet and put down tiles.  

However my understanding is that this is only required if there are apartments/ offices in the areas underneath and not if its just car parking.  I cant seem to find legislation on this though. Can anyone help please? thanks

lpw – I live in Qld and am in your situation. My body corp by-laws state that approval is only required for replacement of flooring ‘other than the ground floor’. As Jimmy T advised, check your by-laws.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The bylaws are vague and just say approval has to be sought from body corporate committee and appropriate acoustic glue is to be used.  There is nothing to specify which levels or anything about “floors other than ground floor”

I guess I will just have to see what they say when I put it to them.  Thanks for the suggestions guys
