We are living on a block with 2 villas. Our villa 1 is the at the bottom one. And the bedrooms of villa 2 are just next to the drive way.

 

This situation is my brother in law drops off his daughter to our place in the morning at 7am( Mon – Fri) . He will stop his car outside of our front door(common area) for 5 mins and then will drive off to the station.

 

The owner of villa 2 complains that wakes her up every time when my brother in law drives pass her window. She said he should have stopped his car off the street and walk down to the driveway with his daughter.

 

I found it very ridiculous, any advice on this issue?

Waking someone early can cause them tiredness, sleepiness and feeling unproductive the rest of the day, especially if on a daily basis. They might need extra sleep during the day just to try to cope.

Your brother-in-law is asked to sacrifice only a minute of his time by considerately parking his car on the street and walking down a driveway.

Maybe your neighbour should change their entire lifestyle to accommodate your brother-in-law by sleeping earlier, or shifting their bed to another room? Maybe they should install expensive noise insulation in their interiors? Then your brother-in-law won't have to go to the Herculean effort of walking down a driveway.

So, if you are required to leave your house for work at 7am you should park on the street, just in case you wake up the neighbour? Nope. Didn’t think so.

Building works can commence at 7am. I fail to see how a car at 7am is that much of an issue. Unless it is modified to above the original level, then there can be action taken
